healing 04:02
it's funny how these things can change how time can melt away your pain and leave you still with questions as "where do i go when you're not here?" i know you'll heal i know i'll heal so tell me how the light will show when i have closed all of the doors and even all, it is the same we build a dome of something safe, and you say, i know you'll heal i know i've healed - i'm not afraid to be alone anymore
2.
late 04:07
it seems i’m in denial again i feel i’ve lost my way it seems you came around when i needed you the most barely caught you as you’re leaving so where does it go from here? two thousand miles away? why can’t you understand i’ve been dredging up a plan to resolve all we should finish love, it’s too late now — it’s too late to do the things that we said we’d do though the ache in me has grown with time all the images elate as they tear me down and i bargain with the same damn lines and now i know — i’ve betrayed myself how i miss the days, when we could fuel the sun! it’s too late to do the things that we said we’d do already time to close the blinds. and how we can delude ourselves i'll never understand there’s something to be said for what’s hidden in the sand for what may appear with sifting time and you could open up the doors — and maybe never see the light until it’s ripped from all your shores and you long for the tide love, not too late now — not too late to do the things that we said we’d do there’s a fire still churning here! all the images flow through me, you’d never know as I finally embrace the fear and now i've learned — i've betrayed myself and i can make new days, i can reclaim the sun not too late to do the things i was made to do it’s finally time to face the night
3.
somebody told me i was dreaming i had no choice but to take it at face value a lesson learned to be forgotten soon it seems i've begun to miss the mark again, you see i know i have waited too long and when it is a mess, i will leave it again. all i knew all i found was here - i'm bound to find it again even right where you stand there's a fleeting feeling it bonds you here to be what you want, for me i've got to take what i've given, strong and i've seen the way you looked at me i'm all in favor of burning slowly just when you go, will you tell me you're still on your way? all i knew all i found was here - i'm bound to find it again! even right, even where you stand
4.
defuse 03:13
i want you to know that i ran from you the way you run from yourself when you can't defuse the part of you that keeps things far away though they're in your reach oh you got so far before it took all over you and what you did for me, when her lights turned over, daisy, i want you to heal the way you heal me, and so many others yet to come so he's 25, he takes us for a drive in his small black car i want you to know that i'm not alone when i say you've won. daisy, i'm so sorry that you're gone - i hope you're writing back to me i'm so sorry i've been gone - i hope you're writing back to me when the lights have all turned on what will i see still left of me? i want you to know that i'm not alone when i say you've won.

about

recorded in a bedroom in cambridge, MA

the cherry tree is a new project from boston musicians previously known as st. nothing - songwriter and multi- instrumentalist marco lawrence, cellist jenna calabro, producer felix nicholson, and harpist maria rindenello-spraker.

this EP was written during the summer of 2019 when i was really sick and isolating at home with over 2 weeks out of work. it's funny to think that just a few months later the themes that inspired this EP would become so relatable to everyone in the setting of the 2020 quarantine. healing EP is about how being alone for extended periods forces you to confront annoying existential questions day to day life pushes aside, but how that can have a silver lining and reconnect you with past things that you forgot were extremely important to you. track 4 is written in memory of a dear childhood friend lost to mental illness this year - i'll always cherish our memories from our turbulent middle school years, daisy.
